About Us

Melody McCutcheon hails from the Orlando, FL area. City girl moves to the NE Georgia mountains to try homesteading. By trade, Mel is an animal trainer. She trains animals of all types dogs, cats, and even a snake to obey both hand and voice commands, and certified service animals. She's our master designer and builder on the homestead.

We are two widows with a common dream. We've spent over half a century living in the modern world. Now, we are chucking it all and going back to a simpler, but with plenty of hard work, time of our grandparents and great grandparents. We are going back to a more organic and self-sustainable future, Won't you follow along with us?

  1. Selfish to say, but I am a tad bit envious! This was my dream for several years, but with a very sick daughter, and my age, I know it will not happen.

I am so thrilled and happy for the both of you and pray that our Heavenly Father through Christ Jesus be with you both each step of the way!

We are so excited to be able to be part of this new beginning and to see it all unfold!

    So happy, happy, happy!

    Love ya both,

    Jan & Mel

    1. Jan, I can relate to what you are saying. I raised two special needs children, cared for my terminally ill husband for ten years, and just turned 60 yesterday. Your never too old. Never give up on your dreams! This is what my husband and I planned to do before he fell ill.

I was a very active minister and author until my stroke. When God closes a door He always opens a window. Take baby steps towards your future. You ain't dead yet.
